# SellCodebase

> SellCodebase helps developers evaluate codebases and, if they choose, submit eligible private GitHub repositories for manual review and possible licensing to third-party buyers such as AI labs.

SellCodebase is a review marketplace, not an automatic buyer. Estimates and local model ranges are informational, nonbinding, and may change or be rejected after diligence. They are not appraisals, offers, guarantees, commitments to buy, promises to find a buyer, or promises of payment. A transaction exists only under separately accepted final terms.

## Fully local evaluator CLI

Install or update the self-contained Bun executable on macOS or Linux:

Install or update on Windows PowerShell:

Evaluate the current directory:

    sellcodebase .

Request one machine-readable result for an agent:

Package download and update steps use the network. After the CLI starts, evaluation is fully local: the SellCodebase evaluator makes no network requests, collects no telemetry, uploads zero bytes, executes no repository code, and writes no repository file unless the user explicitly requests a new report with --output. Its privacy receipt applies to the evaluator process, not other software, shell logging, package installation, or later browser activity.

The JSON envelope includes privacy and legal limits, evidence, optional browser actions, the meeting URL, this guide URL, and update instructions. External actions are marked safeToAutoExecute=false. Agents must not open a browser link, run the update command, or begin onboarding without explicit user confirmation.

## Product boundaries

- A GitHub estimate preview is not a submission and is not saved until the user completes intake.
- Private repository access uses selected-repository, read-only GitHub App access.
- The local CLI does not verify ownership, authority, contributor consent, license compliance, live CI health, operational runnability, buyer demand, or legal status.
- Opening CLI onboarding sends the detected OWNER/REPOSITORY identifier and ordinary browser request data, but the CLI does not attach source code or its local report.
- The introductory-call URL is https://cal.com/michaelsf/sell-repo-inquiry. A call is not an offer or payment commitment and is not confidential unless an applicable agreement says otherwise. Do not disclose confidential material unless an applicable agreement protects it.
- Secure repository upload or access, NDA review, transaction terms, and any final offer occur in separate browser and human-review steps.
